Too many groups, and even more soloists are being released in this generation. Even established groups are letting their members debut solo only months after the official debut Will Korea focus on individuals from now on, just like the west does?

I mean, those are still a part of groups and they made their names because of that group.
A debuted soloist (no group) hardly scores well, unless your name is IU

Nah Groups make way more money than soloists so I don't think companies will stop investing in groups anytime soon.

I think it will be over for groups when Companies start debuting more successful soloists without the protection of being in a group.
We have BoA, we IU as big names.

I don't think groups will dissappear or get any less popular. I think it might be because there are so many more kpop fans now then there was 10 years ago. The more fans the more groups and soloist can be popular and if a group has a lot of fans, there will be more fans who will also buy a solo album. Solos have just become more profitable than they were before.

YG has been into artist from groups having solo stuff as well, Big Bang, 2NE1 and Winner all have some solo stuff out too. I think it's good way to comprimise between wanting to make your own music and staying with more "safe" environment of the group. Western artist seem to leave their groups to go solo, idk if west even provides option to do solo work in the group? I definitely see more kpop groups doing solo work these days though than before, but yep I think it's more of doing solo work while being on group than soloist becoming more popular than groups.
