When someone (who is not an authority, like my boss) tells me they NEED me to do something for them, instead of asking me to do it.

Example: a roommate telling me they need me to pick up toilet paper on the way home, instead of asking if I can pick it up.

I am more lenient with this at my job, because sometimes things NEED to be done. But usually those things come from my boss or a company higher-up anyway.

But in personal relationships, if I get told something NEEDS to be done, something better be on fire or in need of medical assistance.

Otherwise, ask. It's polite.
