What was your fave's debut song and their most recent song? What do you appreciate about the growth? What do you dislike about what's changed? Which song do you like more? Do you still listen to their debut?

Inspired by YouTube autoplay going from (G)I-DLE's most recent to their debut.

I like that you can tell it's still the same group. The song structure remains pretty similar. I think the girls have some more individual vocal color in Nxde than in Latata; it's easier to tell who is singing which lines without looking at the MV. I don't like that the line distribution has gotten so out of whack, not just in terms of timing, but content. Minnie, Miyeon, Shuhua, and Yuqi rotate through singing mostly the same lines, with the exception of Minnie's opening, while Soyeon gets two unique verses. It is nice that Shuhua gets more time to shine in Nxde though, the concept really suits her.

Both songs remain very listenable, imo. I like the big band sound at parts in Nxde and how much fun Latata's chorus is to sing along to.

Well SuperM have only had 2 releases, Jopping and One. Both are great songs, and not that much has changed because of them being released pretty close compared to other older groups. As for dislikes I don’t think I have any? They didn’t change so drastically that in can think of anything bad. I do think (I haven’t checked) that it seems like Ten got more spotlight in One than Jopping which I appreciate. Overall I think they’re doing great, they had an amazing debut and a good comeback and I can’t wait for more

Well, I listen to both of these songs. Though neither of them are my favorites, I think I like them for the harmonies mostly. I like the change in sound, especially since they're in their 30s. Hug was appropriate for teens. I don't think there's anything I dislike about the change. It's hard to pick which one I like more - they sound really different.

My ults original debut was a stark contrast to who they are now. A year later they made the transition to alt-idol and changed concepts completely. Unfortunately, the debut song has been buried by we-B studios and there is no MV to show. What I can show as debut is their first song after making the transition; Asterisk.



Their latest comeback:



The lineup is different, the video quality is different, choreos are different. They have evolved. They began as an indie idol group. Now they record with a major label and pull large audiences (for alt-idols).

Boombayah vs Shut Down, let’s go:

For Boombayah, I always liked the song, and the same with Shut Down. They never miss with those. It’s kind of opposite ends of the spectrum with Boombayah being a carefree party song that’s slightly sexy in the music video, while Shut Down has classical music, nods to their older music videos, and much more classy in comparison. Night and day difference. I like both though, and both still sound very much like a BLACKPINK song if that makes sense. How can they not, they both say the iconic: BLACKPINK IN YOUR AREA!

The quality in B-Sides has gone downhill however, at least a little bit, going from Whistle to Hard to Love. Just…no. There are still several good, recent B-Sides that I love, like Ready For Love and Typa Girl, but it’s more so that before they has no bad songs at all, and now they have some.

BLACKPINK's debut is fire compare to their recent, not so much my favorite but its still worth it
I just feel like BLACKPINK more portrays a different side like the western side which isnt my type
It reminds of BTS' Permission to Dance, I didnt really like it, it didnt sound like them or kpop-ish
However, their debut will always remain one of the best despite it all




Red Velvet is my other ult so I will include them as well
Happiness is still a hit for me but now Birthday? Its an okay song & I perfer Happiness for this battle
Birthday Id say it still a song I would like to listen to, its Ba Ba Bam part is catchy & I like it
I still love how they do the concept change up & how the portray weird-ness too

This is the debut video. I found it on a fan social account. I can't embed it, it says the video is unavailable; but I can watch it on the page itself. A completely different lineup, image, concept and musical style. It doesn't look like PassCode as it is now. Apparently it starts muted. You have to enable the sound to listen to the song. That's true! They seem to be working on solidifying their color, rather than necessarily changing drastically. It probably helps that all the members have their own groups, so they can explore different colors solo vs. with SuperM vs. with their original group. (Total aside, but a dance workout class I do uses Jopping as one of the warm up songs, and it makes that class more fun. :D)

I think you win for biggest change! It's pretty cool that they've managed to hold your interest over all this time and through all the changes, though. It's always risky for a group when that happens.

That's fair. BlackPink had such a strong start, it was always going to be difficult for them to do something super drastic over time. I think we get to see the girls' different interests in their solos though. Like, Hard to Love felt very on point for Rose, even if not necessarily for BP as a whole.

Yes, that's fair! You can really see how the influence of becoming so successful in the west has helped shape their current music. Not really good or bad, but just noticeable.

Red Velvet's red flavor (ha!) is still noticeable, but I like that the girls stand out more these days. I don't know how many watches of the original Happiness MV I had to do before I could consistently separate them out. I agree that Happiness is probably the stronger song overall, though. I like Birthday well enough, but I like the B sides just a bit more.

Nahh, my story is not that impressive. The group started on 2013 while I knew them on 2018 with what I consider their harder song. That song was the major reason I stanned them.
