Last night, I asked a guy I like to go to a bi-monthly event, and he said yes, so I said I would send him times to see what works. And my stupid brain this morning is like "He didn't mean it, he was just being polite. You like him, but he only tolerates you."

I did send him the times, but man, I wish my stupid brain wouldn't work so hard to ruin things for me. 😭

When these thought processes happen to me, I find one method quite effective.

I do the mental equivalent of sighing, standing up, and leaving, often focusing on a to-do that I need to do next like cooking, cleaning, laundry, work, and other things.

When one does not want to think about it or might fall into a potential mental rut when contending with it, it is often better to squeeze those thoughts out with necessary attention to another topic, often an active task that requires active engagement.

There is a specific term for that and it's called Imposter Syndrome. It's also called being human. I think most people are like that. If he doesn't like you he isn't worthy and there's someone better out there!

Thank you, Panda! It's helpful to know I'm not the only one who needlessly worries about how I'm being perceived by others. You're right that I should focus on people who want me around, and if they show they want me around (like by agreeing to go do a thing), then I should trust that too!

He said yes!! The event isn't until the end of March (February was sold out already), but my dumb brain was wrong, and I'm so excited.
