I'm just more confused why it makes sense to the brands and the consumers, who have to know those idols certainly never eat that shit

that's an interesting question but I'm sure those companies have marketing departments who know Korean markets far better than you or I my friend

maybe, but there were also disastrous marketing campagins that caused the brands costly damages in money and reptuation. Do not blindly trust in people jsut because they claim to be experts on a topic

you do have point my friend but people make mistakes even experts and even if they aren't experts I would consider someone with knowledge of a particular area (in this case marketing) superior to my own
hindsight is 20/20 - there are a lot of things that you and I might consider stupid in terms of marketing however we only know that once the campaign is out and in public - who knows what happened behind closed doors and sometimes stupid works...there's no such thing as bad publicity???
