Story time, this knee surgery wasn’t my first time undergoing general anesthesia. When I was little I had a mole removed, on 2 separate sessions. Of course, you may be wondering, what are the important details I remember from that surgery? I actually only have one memory from that. It was eating a freeze pop after one of the surgeries. It was grape flavored. I really had my priorities straight.

I was afraid of getting a CAT scan because I thought there was an actual cat in the machine (hence the word cat)

Yet they did the appendectomy without those scans either way

Yeah and I felt bad because I never had a major surgery until that moment.

Of course I didn't die... But I was hungry but I couldn't pass gas for a few days after surgery.

Yeah and I felt bad because I never had a major surgery until that moment.

Of course I didn't die... But I was hungry but I couldn't pass gas for a few days after surgery.

It is pretty young to have a surgery. It’s definitely not a fun experience, but sadly necessary at times. And on the bright side you won’t have to go through that surgery again, hopefully not others too. Hope health wise everything works out for you

I think based on this thread you aren’t the only kid to remember food primarily. Idk how old I was, but if I was speaking English with the doctor then above 4 or 5 years old

Kids and people in general would like to remember good things from their past. Its much harder to bring up something painful, hence why a good memory during something terrible is very specific.

I don't have any stories like this, but I do remember one time after it rained in 1st grade I slid down a slide and got my butt wet and I started crying & the teacher told me to run around the playground until I dried off, so I was running at full speed sobbing for the rest of recess trying to dry off.
