Power dynamics in G-Idle (3 Viewers)

I often wonder how the situation is in a group where one member has so many important and impactful roles like Soyeon in G-Idle. Not only is she the leader, but she also writes pretty much all of their songs and also arranges and compses them. I have no idea if she also does the choreography or other things, but I would not even be surprised.

So I wonder how their team dynamics work. If I would be a member of the group, the scariest thing I could imagine is making Soyeon angry or getting on her bad side, what could you even do at that point?

I have not heard of anything bad happening in G-Idle, so this is not meant as accusation! I'm just curious because the situation seems so different from almost all other groups I know of

Yeah idk either. I know a lot of people hate Soyeon for whatever reason but she definitely holds a lot of power. When I went through CLC, they literally weren’t able to do anything or have any say and the fans hated Cube for that. And now, Soyeon has so much say in that same company. In reality I have no clue whats happening

I also want to know why she is hated, I find her very admirable

I thought Cube wants all their groups to be self producing like G-Idole from what I understand... maybe no one in CLC was able to fill all the roles? But I really have no idea, I don't know much about either group

Well I can tell you that Cube wasn’t as flexible with CLC as IDLE is now thats why idk if its Soyeon’s influence or not. Their fandom is called @Neverland

I mean, idk idle well, but I haven't heard of the members not getting along with her? As long as she is a good and reasonable leader in all the things she is in charge of, it's all good.

I heard IZ*Ones debut song was meant to be a CLC comeback.. but CUBE just sold it. Just imagine a similar situation with Soyeon, if she wrote and composed the song, what can they even do? I would hope even in the deranged world of kpop contracts, that would be a huge legal issue if they tried to sell it away over her head!

She as a leader should be taking into consideration that she has a group of massively talented individuals and instead of using her ability as a composer, writer, choreographer, and leader to help those members shine more she uses it to center herself.

She also already has a solo career. You'd think she'd actually use her members more effectively within their title tracks but she doesn't.

I think Soyeon is incredibly talented and I think her fellow members know that too. I think she cares for them a lot and vice versa but it's kind of like when your boss tries to hang out with the employees. It's not that it feels like the members hate each other or anything or like there is any tension but to me sometimes it does give off the vibes of she is above them and they aren't on her level and not in an intentional way-more like that's just how it is.

Because Soyeon has power and she also has so much say in what the group produces and makes as a whole and she's usually the center of it all. I think the group dynamics match that.

I hope this isn't coming across the wrong way I just sometimes feel like the group dynamics are awkward.

I think Yuqi tries to really bridge the gap to make things less weird but I think it's also just hard in general when you have a member that holds so much power whereas the others don't. I think Soojin was also pretty close with Soyeon but I more so associated her with Shuhua and Miyeon because there was a silly dynamic between those 3.

I would go so far to say she is easily a musical prodigy

And how you describe it, is exactly how I imagined it to be!!! I also tought to me this would feel like hanging out with my boss. Its cool when everything is fun, but if something stupid happens, it gets really weird all of a sudden, so you're always cautios

And I think Soyeon is almost blameless in this! I do not imagine that she ever started training as an idol with the intention to do absolutly everything that is required to make a kpop group going. CUBE is just putting unlimited responsiblity on her and maybe she even likes it this way, but I think its hard to not let it get to your head when your put in such a position and do well.

I just find impressive how this all works and if she manages to still have the other members like her, that would be an impressive feat and would show great leadership.

Its probably not a boss, I think this is something a vocal coach would do or a producer? I don't know, this is just another role someone usually has in the music creation process she just does on the side... she probably replaces the work of 10 different people that a company normally would need to hire.

I’m sure they’re close friends and great co-workers and all, I know Yuqi has done a song on the Nxde album (idk if she did everything but still)
