Soyeon has some of the most lines if not the most lines in their title tracks lol crazy considering Miyeon is the actual main vocalist yet you barely hear her

I don't care when it comes to groups where the company is the issue with dismissing talent in the groups by unfairly distributing the lines. It's different when it's the leader doing this and giving themselves most of the lines.

For example, I don't care about Everglow's distributions. Yeah, it sucks, but Mia isn't the one swaying the lines in her favor the company is.

I've never gone into kpop thinking it was going to be equal distributions or even trying to be equal...to me the song is the song and I like it or not the exact distribution of what sings what part never enters my mind even for my favs but I can understand other fans getting upset when their favs or anyone within their group doesn't get the appropriate attention that one thinks they deserve

For me equal just means the members get the number of lines that fits their position in the group. But with how (G)I-DLE does their distributions you'd think all the members were sub-vocalists except for Soyeon.

I always thought the vocal positions main/lead/sub were partially that but also reflective of the type of lines they get as well like the main/lead would get the "hardest" (highest note wise???) parts as well as maybe the chorus or other important parts of a song
but obviously each group is different and maybe Gidle is one of them...

now all our discussions notwithstanding - do you feel bad for the members of Gidle? like the two mains? miyeon and minnie?

Minnie & Shuhua are my biases but Miyeon is the most talented vocalist within the group however Soyeon prefers Minnie's stylistic way of singing so MInnie typically gets the harder lines or the more vocally challenging parts. Minnie is of course skilled and I love her vocal tone too but she doesn't have vocals that will last with the way she supports herself (or I should say the lack of support). I also want to say I think Yuqi is also one of the more talented members.

I'm grateful Yuqi had a solo career I'm just worried she'll never have a comeback.

my fav is yuqi as well but given her stint on running man and other shows she like most idols will probably return home to China and promote there

I'll add a bit of background as well as a Gidle fan

Gidle did not debut conventionally - in fact it was Soyeon who produced Latata and basically forced the higher ups to debut them
Yes She has a lot of power but is that wrong? everything she's done has been for the benefit of her group and ultimately cube...
her power comes from history and making the right decisions (for the most part) - if her TT were shit Gidle would be in a much different situation now
also look at the GG right before Gidle and right afterwards (I'm not sure of the success of Cube's BG so I'll only comment on the GG)...CLC and Lightsum - with all due respect to them from a company's perspective they obviously weren't bringing home the bacon so to speak

now if you have a track record of producing good songs and being successful you get some leeway to do whatever you want

in terms of group dynamics they all respect her as the leader and producer - hell even the higher ups respect her (because she is making them $$$$) - sure shuhua gets the least lines (she's also the "weakest" in the group) but I've never heard shuhua complaining one bit and neither have the other members

both minnie and yuqi write their own songs as well albeit as bsides - and all of miyeon/yuqi and soyeon have released solo songs as well

and if one sees the group dynamics through their various bts videos and whatnot they seem to (at least on camera) get along very well and yes they bicker a hell of a lot but that's Gidle for ya lol

I don't want to judge if its good or bad, I'm just curious about the situation in general, so thank you for sharing your insight as a fan

I don't follow G-Idle closely but I agree with the above. Minnie and Soyeon get way more exposure than Miyeon even though the latter is the better vocalist.

That's nice but Soyeon still has 2nd place when you include all songs. Being 1st with lines for titles and 2nd for all songs as the main rapper and a vocalist is ridiculous to me. She is the one who controls this-I think that's messed up.

I was going to say, it's interesting to see she isn't *technically* first overall, but the margin between first and second is miniscule, and it's understandable why non-fans (who would only hear the title tracks) think that (G)I-DLE is another case of Cube doing "(main person) + her backup dancers."

And the more I think about this, the more bummed I get for Shuhua. It's no duh that she's not the strongest vocally, but she has an interesting vocal tone, and she can carry her own when she's given the space to do more than go "lalalala." That's one thing I liked about My Bag is the fact that, yes, Soyeon gets the entire chorus to herself, but the other members each get a totally unique verse and you can see their different strengths. Boss Baby Shuhua.

She I think is a chameleon. Yes, she isn't the strongest vocally but she can camouflage her voice well and I think that's impressive.
