Some might think airport related ones. Or airplane accident ones. Maybe some of randos trying to open the door mid flight. But how about ones about customers peeing on others mid flight? It’s apparently not even uncommon

Yeah I read about it, it was a few years before covid. That's just so fucked up, I hate hearing stories like that, especially in the US since it's where I currently live. Is it really that hard for law enforcement/security/whatever to not be blatantly horrible people?

like with many things - there are bad apples in every fandom, hobby, occupation etc etc
we only hear about the worst since it's newsworthy...
"good" cops don't make a peep - they do their jobs catch crooks and assist the neighbourhood - when's the last time that was worthy of the news

I did read a thing recently where the cops seemed pretty cool but it wasn't news, it was someones recollection of events. Yeah without a doubt there do exist bad apples everywhere, but the sucky part is if a retail worker is one thats not harming anyone significantly in almost all cases, but if someone with a gun and in some cases a position where they'll be protected even if they mess up horribly, that can literally kill someone. You'd think there would be better safeguards in place given that fact but apparently not.

hmmm so you're saying there is greater potential for cops to do bad or rather that the spectrum of the damage one can do is greater than retail workers - that's true which is why there should be greater regulation for certain professions (such as police) and why that such regulations should be enforced not merely just a piece of paper

Yeah, ruining someones life by "performing" your job, whether beating them, killing them, anything like that where the actions are not justified isn't something where brushing it off by saying "but not all of us are bad" "they were following orders so no one will be punished" "they didn't realize they were killing them" and so on. Too often there are people who lap up those excuses, victim blame, and so on and yeah in some cases they get punished but in some cases they don't. Like if I were to "accidently" kill someone that wouldn't fly for almost all people, the fact that they're enforcement of some kind shouldn't give them protection in cases where it's not warranted.

Yeah they are given various protections. Sometimes it makes sense, like if they kill a criminal on the job they don't go to jail or whatever. In situations of "oops I accidently killed them" "oops i accidently beat someone up" where said person isn't guilty or is guilty of something but not warranting major force and that stuff its just

I think some of the protections (at least in the US) go a bit above what is required but I think the US needs a fundamental shake up of the entire system and not merely any department or gov branch...
like down under we have heavily regulated guns and I remember reading that whenever the police discharges a firearm they have to make a report about it

Yeah agreed. We our guns are "regulated". So there's regulations in place that may or may not be followed. We've got 6 year olds shooting teachers but it's okay because "freedom to bear arms". Totally nothing wrong here
