(!Sensitive!) MHA is Sexist (1 Viewer)

Hello everyone! Before I begin, I would like to make a little disclaimer. I love MHA, I really do. I don’t mean to hate on it or say it’s the worst anime ever. I just want to bring up one big problem that the anime has that I personally don’t agree with and how it would be much better if they fix it. MHA is a wonderful anime but it still makes me feel bad that it has these problems. So, let’s get into it! Basically, there are 3 big problems. 1. It’s sexist 2. The fandom is toxic 3. Many characters are underrated. I will only talk about number 1 today but I will make one for 2 and 3 if people want it!

Starting off, MHA is sexist. I don’t even have to say much. Let’s take a look at some costumes, shall we?

There’s a lot more but I just wanted to show a few. It’s time for a pop quiz! What do all these characters have in common? THEY ARE ALL FEMALES. Now, there are some moments in MHA where the male costumes are also pretty bad but the majority of costumes like these are for females. It’s just like they are treating the female characters like props. Also, I should tell you Momo’s age. 16 YEARS OLD. She was even wearing that when she was 15 when we first met her. Midnight and Mt. Lady are both above the age of 18 so even though their costumes are really bad, Momo’s has got to be the worst. I don’t understand why they couldn’t have redesigned it to make it more covered up and take into account that she’s only 16! Plus, I bet a lot of 10, 11, 12 + kids are watching this and I don’t think they want to see that. I would like to bring a character up that is ALL ABOUT THIS TOPIC. Our favorite purple-haired friend, Mineta. If you don’t know who he is, it’s probably better that you don’t. If you really want to know though, short story short, he’s a big pervert. It’s excpected for characters in a story to either show some semblance of growth or face repercussions for refusing to become better people. Mineta doesn’t act any differently than before, and given that he’s still one of the most perverted characters in anime history, he should pay the price for his actions. Instead, Mineta is just laughed at or ignored by most of his class, with only a few of them making comments about his behavior. It’s not acceptable by most social standards. I just can’t stand him and how there are no actions taken about his behavior. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed this thread! Nah that's valid. I think my main gripe is that mha has so many cool and interesting and female characters, but fails to utilize them or develop them. Like, Uraraka could be a really cool and developed character but after that tournament, they didn't rlly do much w her asides from teasing her crush w deku :/ And I can say so many similar things about some of the other female characters honestly...

i watched a video about this a while ago. and yeah the main focus of the show are the boys and the girls are just there to look pretty imo

For sure! It's pretty sad actually. There are so many amazing characters but a lot of them are underdeveloped. Uraraka definitely deserves better, they are just using her to make the story go smoother and give Deku someone to like.
