In the same cooking session as my carrot annoyance the burner decided that working properly was optional. It has different settings for different heats (I think most do but I’m not an expert so I’m not certain). It has Lo , 1-9, and Hi. At Hi, the stove gets obviously red, I’m pretty sure there’s no other temperature where it does that. I was casually cooking, wondering why the food was bubbling so hard but I checked the setting (it was on either 4 or 6, I forget) and was like idk maybe it’s old age and I’m forgetting what it’s supposed to bubble like? Until I look at the burner and it was red. So I’m obviously like what’s up with it? I lowered the heat and nothing changed so I just turned it off. I turned it on after a bit to see if turning it off and turning it on again would work but nope, it happened again. The last fun part was I mentioned it to someone and they came and turned it on to check and as they walked away to check on something they told me it’s hot and don’t touch and I’m like
You mean to tell me that if you turn on the burner it gets hot? Wow, groundbreaking stuff am I right?
