I broke my rule and bought another video game (1 Viewer)

My personal rule is no buying games until I've finished my current one. I'm currently 3/8ths the way through Octopath Traveler II (~40 hours), which means I'm already not likely to finish it before Zelda drops next month.

But I'm in the mood for a chill game that I can play while watching a movie or something, so I bought Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town. Oops~



How bad is your own backlog?

Doesn't it stress you out!! That's why I switched to not buying any games unless I'd finished (or decided I was definitely not going to finish) my current game.

I do want to finish Octopath Traveler II, I just need something less story dense for a bit.

What are you working on playing now?

I'm mostly pretty good about my rule! I think the worst I've gotten back up to was 3 games (1 active, 2 in backlog) during a particularly good eshop sale. I just worry with having potentially 3 games that are all 80+ hours, though I have finished almost half of Octopath... /justifying

Jkjk your rule makes sense, though if I liked video games I might break that rule for example if video games I was very interested in were on sale. But I don’t like video games usually so I don’t have that issue

Yeah in that regard it does make sense to keep it at one game at a time. Basically the material equivalent of eating with your eyes not your stomach. There’s upsides and downsides of both sides but realistically it’s about what works for you, and if that’s what works for you no need to change it
