For a lot of groups mentioned here it’s waaaay to early to say if they will stay together or not
Some groups just debuted and people already see them disbanding


Anyways, there are some nugu groups I like that have a hard time gaining fame and there company might disband them after a few years, if they don’t earn enough money

It’s clear they are not SM’s focus or emphasis anymore - the contrast in the way their album release and tour were managed is quite striking. (I like 127 and Dream but yeah, that was definitely handled differently.) Despite that members have enough individual brand strength to stay booked and busy, so may choose to bounce (thinking esp of Yuta, who is thriving in Japan despite SM not really talking about anything he’s doing.)Others like Jaehyun, Taeyong and Taeil might want to take their chances as soloists producing their own music instead of waiting on SM.

if this was true, especially in Wonyoung and Yujins case, why join another group if they are so hellbent on solo activities?

Ofc its possible the agency made that decision for them and they had no choice.. but I would still assume they had to sign new contracts once IVE was formed, as otherwise the group would be in a weird state from the start

Albums:
Since Sticker, NCT 127 albums have had condensed or vague pre-release periods. In the same period, Dream always have full amount of time and clearly defined release dates. More significantly, the 2 Baddies release had delayed shipments, last minute notifications to fans on promotions and events (like events with a studio audience) and an error where one of the members was missing in the photography, causing reprints. The Ay-Yo repack didn't have a confirmed date for months and even members didn't know when it was happening and pleading with us to wait for it. Despite having international bistro, shipments were delayed by weeks on Baddies, altho remedied at the last minute, which helped to get it Billboard charted, while Ay-Yo shipped internationally 2 months later than its release. Meanwhile, Dream was having a robust, clearly announced promotion sequence for Candy with no errors or disto delays.


Merch:
God even the merch is better. This is a running joke in the 127 fandom, because they have the worst and most lackluster merch.

In contrast, Dream has pajamas and slippers and jackets and cute stuff. Last time 127 had this type of thing was Neo Zone.

Tour: 127 Tour dates announced as they went, sometimes with as little as a few days notice they were on sale and sometimes not even confirming the dates until the event was happening so fans didn't know if it was legit or not. Tour promoters were often talking before the company was. For the first US shows, they told us three days before tickets went on sale and as typical for the tour, updated the poster just then. For the final legs, they did actually post a list of dates in advance, but that was over a year into the tour.

Tour announced in November 2021. It took until AUGUST 2022 to get a partial list of tour dates from when it was first announced. And that was dropped 2 days before US tix went on sale and just 5 days before Manila show. No festival appearances.

All of Dream's tour dates were announced at the start in February, giving fans a minimum of month's notice before ticket purchases and providing three months worth of specific shows. They also had multiple festival appearances.

I want to see all units succeeding! I want to see 127 AND Dream AND WayV AND DJJ AND Tokyo all doing lots of things. I want Dream to be a record-breaking top selling group and I want 127 too and WayV. But it's definitely frustrating to watch the difference on comebacks (WayV has also seen that even more so although the Phantom cb was well done and well handled.)

(G)I-DLE just had one of their biggest years and the girls are busier than ever. I wouldn't count them out yet, but we'll see how the next two years go. I'm not sure where else Soyeon would get the level of freedom she has, despite her own solo music not doing well. Unless Lightsum suddenly takes off drastically, I think Cube would do a lot to keep (G)I-DLE.

For my own predictions, I unfortunately agree with Everglow. A two-year gap with minimal activities is burning a lot of valuable time the girls have to be growing their reach and establishing themselves. We've already seen how much harder that lack of support makes solo activities harder for even way more popular groups, and I could see some of them wanting some of the same level of support Yuehua is currently giving Yena and Tempest.

uhhh I did not expect it to be this severe I thought that all groups under the NCT label are treated somewhat equally, as they all togehter still form NCT.

Its always hard for me to understand why a company would sabotage their own group in the way you describe it, its not like it takes them astronomical effort to provide proper tour dates or make sure to print & ship enough albums... I mean in the end the company is making most of the money anyways, so this is simply absurd.

It's strange to me that the company doesn't maximize all their opportunities! They sent 127, a group with a solid American fanbase who have promoted on American tV, to a limited number of concerts in America (ie missing out on money since every concert they did have was sold out) while sending Dream - a group they haven't really promoted here - to more concerts than 127 in america in the same size venues as 127 (which did not sell out). Like eh? Talk to me about your logic here. Meanwhile, WayV, a Chinese group, STILL isn't promoting in China. (yes, they're popular other places but..?) Make it make sense.

And tbf, the true moneymaker would be an all unit tour that features all of the NCT groups on one tour.

I knew WayV is made up of chinese members, so I thought its obvious they promote in China.. but I guess not

They never did a full NCT tour? I would also think that would attract a lot of fans and also seems to defeat the purpose of the entire concept if you do not try to capitalize on it

In general, depending on how much money and fans the groups continue to sustain and bring in over the years for the labels, I'm going to assume a lot of those who were not as popular may be cursed and disband. It's just the sad nature of the industry.

Even some popular ones may disband, too.
