There was a release a few months ago (Limelight Honest?) that showed up later. I have and pay for spotfity but need to stop because I never use it.

I don’t think they really care about that. Kep1er’s Chaehyun is under wakeone and yet, they were tasked with managing the final group.

bp999 also has wakeone trainees with woongi being extremely popular. It might happen again when their group is also finalized.

I see... I don't know why, but I assumed their is probably a neutral M-net company, that manages the groups from their programms.. I just realize how naive I am again

It’s about money. Technically while yeah, kep1er hasn’t reached the peeks people were hoping for, they do at least sell decently.

something to note about survival shows + groups that come out of them, often times I think, the girl version airs first and the boy version airs afterwards. Because of this, the producers and companies behind these will take what they’ve learned from the girl version, and make the boy version better. I can’t speak much on ioi vs wanna one but I think had x1 would have been allowed to continue, they should have been set to have a longer contract and would have been allowed to promote with their original companies after a certain amount of time. This is a lot better and more bulkier then what izone got from their contract.

as for kep1er vs bep1er, i do think the shows itself were refined a bit since they ditched the cell system and whatnot, but we’ll have to see what happens when the actual group debuts. But if wakeone is smart, they’ll learn that throwing random things at the wall won’t work and actually plan better. Either way, like i said, the group will be making a lot of money, so that might be all that matters.

and I’m also sure since bp999 the show has been under planning and works for awhile, wakeone is locked in and switching might not be easy…

In a strange way this is a good thing, if you want Kep1er to stay a group for longer than their 2.5 year contract. If the group was too successful on the charts and with the GP, then the companies would want to use those members to spark new groups (see IVE and Lessarifim). But if they're just selling decent amounts of albums, then it might be in all the company's best interests to keep Kep1er together as is.

We'll have to see.

I remember that X1 was supposed to have a 5 year contract, I don't know anything about the other details you mentioned like being able to promote with the original label sooner, but that sounds like a great improvement for everyone involved!

ofc, in the end its always about money, I have no illusions about that but by not charting and not having the publics support, it also means a lot of money is left on the table, so the labels can't be super happy

I believe 143 has plans for Mashiro and Yeseo to join Limelight, but that's the only concrete plans I've seen.

Not that this is about the og post but since we're talking about kepler:

I feel like Kepler is being managed how ioi was, what @ManduBun said about sticking things to the wall and seeing what works. I think where kepler is failing though is that they don't have the security of a big enough fanbase/gp traction to continue doing this without consequences whilst produce groups, particulary ioi and wanna one, could do whatever they wanted, quality work or not, and get away with it. I think kepler's producers are way too ambitious, they thought because kepler came from an mnet survivual show they wouldve already been big meaning whatever they did they'll be fine and, although the gg does have success, it's not enough to maintain their debut popularity, espeically with competition from LSFM, NJ and IVE.

Sorry I've been wanting to get that out of my system for a bit. Kepler just needs an identifiably sound and to a lesser extent concept, then I think they will grow. That being said though idk if they have enough time to now

Its extra spicy as they are the spiritual successor to IZ*One, while IVE has former IZ*One members. Also while IZ*One and its former members are imune to the fallout of the produce scandal, Kep1er (after X1) is probably the group that suffers most from it. At least I always had the impression the public gave them the cold shoulder from the start.

i don't think kep1er is seen as the "successor of iz*one" tbh. even though they were both formed from mnet survival shows, both groups have very different concepts. the produce series was also a lot more popular than the planet series. i don't think kep1er's lack of popularity is due to the scandal, rather, i see it as the fandom being divided and the girls having songs that are either a hit or miss with the gp. i don't follow them so i might be wrong but this is what i have observed

all produce groups suffered from the scandal, including iz*one. i don't think theyre "immune" to the produce scandal just because they were allowed to continue as a group even when it was announced that mnet rigged the show. as someone who has been watching produce since the start, x1 and iz*one were probably the biggest victims of the rigging. both groups received a lot of hate from netizens at that time and were even boycotted by some. mind you, iz*one was even at a risk of disbandment when the scandal broke out. kep1er on the other hand was not associated with the produce series since they were from girls planet so the scandal didnt affect them that much

nah former produce groups were managed by swing entertainment. wakeone used to be mmo entertainment, a subsidiary of cj, that manages the planet groups

I think Kep1er was a little unlucky to launch right in the thick of so many other girl groups that had a more interesting sound, better dancers/performers/singers or ladies that better fit KBS. (All these ladies are pretty, but Kep1er was particularly unlucky to launch near some of the gen's It girls.)

Even if you take out the big budget groups like Ive, LSF, NJ and NMIXX, I also think in performance, they often also looked weaker than even other mid-tier nugu groups, who have actually been quite strong, like PurKi and Billlie, and nugu nugu groups like Craxy, XG and Lapillus.

I don't think their management helped by waiting too long and seeming to change direction with the sound several times when the group didn't really have an established identity. (Even other rookie groups have a clear sound & style).
