When I climbed Mt. Whitney we had to chip ice on a river to get in. It was the most exhilarating bath of my life. You also feel amazing afterword.

Not at the official Polar Plunge. But there's a bathing lake here where I regularly swim a few rounds in Winter (and I'm not the only one.). You get used to it. I started with 'ice bathing' after reading the book of Wim Hof.
