What do you put in your sandwichs if not deli meats?
What do you put in your sandwiches? As a meat eater I rarely put any meat in my sandwiches![]()
Well tbh I don't eat sandwiches ever really, but in the very rare times I do I make really simple sandwiches. Maybe mayo, cheese, and a tomato, or in the past a pickle instead, or pb&j. We rarely have deli meat anyways anymore. I do sometimes eat ones with meat but that's only when we get them from the sandwich place in town these days which is pretty rare. What do you put in your sandwiches?
These ideas sound deliciousNot a vegetarian anymore. Was one for 10+ years and currently my diet is still 90% sans meat and eggs.
It's simple. Veggies and cheeses of your favorite kind![]()
with a good bread and sauce/spread/dressing
Vegetable are not bland by any means. I guess some can forget that veggies can have really good flavor if you pick them right. I'm a slut for a good tomato and bread
A roasted veggie sandwich is my favorite kind.Roasted zucchini
charred onions
broccoli chunks cooked and crispy one side to perfection. Giant shavings of parm. A balsamic glaze. Makes me cry every time.:taeilsob:
There's also a very special sandwich Indians love to make. It's white bread, mayo, tomatoes, lettuce, processed cheese square. The twist comes in with sliced boiled potatoes, the green spicy indian chutney, the sweet tamarind indian cutney (this is optional), garlic chutney. This is the basic version. These ideas sound delicious
I’m gonna ask some really dumb questions but what is a chutney and what is paneer? There's also a very special sandwich Indians love to make. You can level it up with grilled paneer, these really small fried tiny fries called sev for some crunch, you can throw in some chat masala for a bit of interesting tang. Add other veggies if you like.
I've tossed in grilled spiced okra XD which isn't normal but I love it.
Chutney is basically a sauce type of condiment to put on something, dip in, or spread it. The most consumed ones are a spicy mint one (doesnt taste like mint) and the sweet tamarind one.I’m gonna ask some really dumb questions but what is a chutney and what is paneer?
Both sound very intriguing and I want to tryChutney is basically a sauce type of condiment to put on something, dip in, or spread it. The most consumed ones are a spicy mint one (doesnt taste like mint) and the sweet tamarind one.
Paneer is a non melting cow milk cheese, but you can sub for tofu if lactose.
Very mild, holds it's shape if you cook with it.
and no question is dumb
Tofu is a vegetable?Just veggies and sauce.
veggies can be very limitless. Lettuce, tomato, avocado, cucumber, tofu, spinach, onion, carrot, mushroom, etc. I don’t eat cheese and eggs, but those are options too.
though, meat substitutes are around. You can find anything from bacon, tempeh, turkey, etc.
It’s bean based since it is usually made with soy milk :) vegetarians and vegans love it and is often a meat substitute.Tofu is a vegetable?![]()
I’ve tried ot without knowing it was bean based and tbh I like it better than beans cause it isn’t as squishyIt’s bean based since it is usually made with soy milk :) vegetarians and vegans love it and is often a meat substitute.
Tofu can be soft or firm as you like and can be used in different flavored dishes from desserts to dinner. So you can really do whatever you want with it, which is cool :)I’ve tried ot without knowing it was bean based and tbh I like it better than beans cause it isn’t as squishy
I don’t know why but this reminds me of that person who got offended that a kids show said tofu was healthier than chocolate.Tofu is a vegetable?![]()
Well… the second part could be true tooI don’t know why but this reminds me of that person who got offended that a kids show said tofu was healthier than chocolate.Just the fact that it’s about tofu not that I found you as dumb as them
