IOI was before my time, I got into KPOP in February 2017 and found the girls at debut ^^ I didn't know them before then and have been with the girls until now. I check on them all the time and follow and support their current activities I've been through the trenches during the unofficial disbandment days so I always plan on supporting them

I ult only GGs and it's just because those are the ones who deliver the music I enjoy. This opens the possibility for a BG to raise to top level in my stan list; but none has still said me! All of them go up to barely good and/or down to.................. well, let me just shut up.

My ult group is Stray Kids, and they will likely always be my favorite, but all the other groups I stan (BLACKPINK, Twice, DreamNote, ILY:1) are all girl groups. I don't even know how it happened or why, but I'm not complaining. As for why, where do I begin?

I admire the fact that they make their own music. 3racha (Chan, Changbin and Jisung) make most of the songs, but all of the members have at least 12+ song credits or something like that, so they definitely all help in making their own music. Not only that, but I love how deep and meaningful their songs all are. When I go to listen to their songs, they can make me sing from joy, feel like crying, feel empowered, feel like partying and so many more different emotions, depending on the specific song.

Each of the members is so kind and wholesome, where do I even begin? Lee Know always carries around cat food to feed any stray cats he sees on the streets. Even his cats miss him when he is gone and try to stop him from leaving by sleeping on his shoes. Felix bakes brownies to give to staff and other idols, and even got nicknamed "brownie boy" because of it. Chan does Chan's Room every week. Then there's all the donations they made in their name and good causes they support too.

Not to mention the bond the group has with each other. Chan makes songs specifically for the other members sometimes (I think he made two for Changbin so far). Hyunjin said Changbin is like his mom. They say they spent more time with each other than their families. They literally made a song (FAM) where all they do is simp over each other. The amount of times they hug/cuddle with each other is adorable (especially Felix). Then there's so many little things they do for each other that if I listed them all, I'd be here all day.

Also, the way they love their fans. The way they try to comfort them, and always offer such good advice. It's so wholesome. I'll stop here before I never do. Now, I sure most people can/do say the same things about groups they ult (they love the music, the members are awesome, they love the group dynamics and so on), and I'm sure that other groups do possess all of these things, but something about Stray Kids is really special to me, in a way that's hard to explain.

I'm not sure I understand your point with the romantic partners, I mean I understand what you mean, but how does it keep you from listenting to other BG if you ult SKZ? Is it like in the sense that they already fulfill this romantic role in a sense, so you don't want any others?

The point with not supporting the competition makes sense, I can imagine that this comes into play for some, as kpop fandoms are sadly designed to be this way and its hard for us as individuals to escape those mechanisms

My reason is bc NCT has many members & subunits, i just don't feel the need to reach out & search for more BGs to listen to

But to answer your question, it’s because every time I end up trying to stan another boy group, I end up unintentionally comparing them to Stray Kids, and they usually fall short, or I just don’t feel as connected to them (through no fault of their own of course).

I guess. I think the culture around bg can be more insular and dedicated. I think about now where you have gg fans flocking to the next new shiny new thing and certainly moreso in Korea, they are willing to casually check out all these gg hence why many are capable of charting much moreso than bg. That cultivates more people willing to casually stan.

Bg can’t do that and need to focus more on their strengths in cultivating a dedicated fandom to get good sales. I think asking someone to be more dedicated than a casual listener is already a lot of investment, hence why someone would want to stick with one group and not bother with more. This ofc leads to an issue where since the culture for bg is so insular, their music and content isn’t spreading or getting the wide reach in the way gg content and music is. So inevitably, I think bg will stay that way unless a major shakeup happens.

ofc, now gg can get large fandom too (I believe lsf’s 1st day sales for their recent album was in the millions, which is their heighest and surpasses their past releases by a lot). So you do wonder where things will go from here since large fandom might not be as much as a hurdle for gg as it used to be.

I personally ult a BG, but I do follow other BGs too. Whereas I barely follow any GGs apart from just liking and enjoying some of their songs.
