Libraries loaned books. Now they loan everything from escape bag/box things, to free meals, to drones. I don’t think it’s a bad thing per say. Just different. And I’m sure some libraries back in the day offered more unsual things too.

I remember when they started loaning movies and movie rental stored sued over it and lost.

I can take or leave libraries. I mean, they're great for when you're on a budget and can't just buy the books as well as for studying, but not for people like me who always procrastinate reading. lol
