Ones with mostly just text and photos. My grandma seems to really dislike them because “you can just find the information on google”. And idk, yeah you can? But it’s undoubtedly more difficult to do your own research and find different sources for the different parts vs go to a museum where the information is nicely and clearly laid out in a museum? Adding on to the fact that the museums in question were free so I didn’t lose a whole lot of anything really, so idk why she was so against it

Also it doesn’t really matter, a museum is a museum. You’re there to learn information basically anyways.

We have a holocaust museum in the city near us. It was made in a synagogue. It has some objects, but mainly texts and pictures of the ppl deported from the city during WW2. Once you're inside, noone asks "why couldn't we google this"

I think it's worth it. I never thought our lil town had any part in history whatsoever, but when i went to the museum and i saw the ppl that lived there and had to leave, and never came back... Made me realize how much pain and suffering have i overlooked and that they needed to be remembered.

Go to that museum and don't care about your aunt.

Grandma, don’t want to defame my aunt like that. She’d support me
It’s just a little harder because I really don’t want to make her overly worried, and she seems to think if I have to find my way anywhere that I’ll malfunction, get lost, get mugged, and die or something. So I wouldn’t want to just leave and have her not know where I’m going at least.

I have never been to one of those. I don't know what's the advantage; but I could guess it's finding the available information in an orderly and entertaining(?) way.

[Myth]

I’m not sure if I can describe it right, but museums are more than just text and photos, they are an immersive space, and consuming the information and walking around is very different from just reading some text alone. And I think it’s only a good thing we have the ability to educate ourselves more this way. It’s a different and good impact.

I get just photos and text doesn’t have the same appeal as ones with more artwork or artifacts or maybe film media but I think that impact is still there and valuable.
