Personally, It would be cool to see them acknowledged on such a big platform and see them attend or perform regardless if they win but yeah maybe the headache isn’t worth it xp

that is not correct though, many of the 4th gen GGs are on top now! The few remaining third gen groups are still doing really well too though, so now just both gen are doing great

yeah 4th gen GGs have definitely risen up. but as long as third generation groups are still growing, i don't see new generation coming yet.

BTS will not come back for a long time, BP still has the chance to disband in a few month

SVT seems to be on the rise right now and doing better than ever? I'm not sure they will stagnate

Twice is not doing so hot when it comes to charting, but they also just outpferormed their previous sales numbers by a huge margin,, so technically they are on the rise too.

RV seems to be held back by their company falling apart around them and treating them really badly, so they will have a hard time I agree

4th gen started 2018 and now its 2023 so stating that 4th gen barely started is wrong when its been over 5 years now

usually what differentiates different gens from eachother is music style and overall popularity
for example bts, exo, got7 debuted with a similar vibe and were at the height of their activity at similar times (most content with the most amount of unique new viewers)

for 4th gen main groups include gidle, fromis, izone, itzy and you cant really compare them to new groups such as newjeans and fiftyfifty
same with stray kids and ateez compared to boynextdoor or the mnet group, theyre all really popular groups but you cant group them together anymore, the new gens style is very aimed at the general public compared to the previous ones

I agree that you can't compare them, but I think you also highlithed the flaw why generations probably never will make sense again

All the groups you listed, while you cannot really compare them to the newer groups, you can compare them to the older groups. At least I see no issue in comparing fromis, Itzy, IZone and G-Idle to Twice, Blackpink and Red Velvet. The third gen cut off always felt completely random to me and never made sense, the true cut off was around when Aespa debuted with their AI stuff and corona happend, everything changed and its a great starting point for a new generation

it's their 5th year but also their most successful and the one where they've been at their peak so idrk if time is truly an indicative

whilst that might be true, regardless of the successfulness or not of gidle I think probably next year at the very latest will we see k-news start referring to newer kpop groups as the 5th generation
