Have fun, it's a good idea to get more of a feel for them imo. We couldn't do that as easily because we got mine during covid time, but we did end up hanging out with cats a bit because we were considering getting a couple (especially 2 bonded pairs that were very cute and I would have loved to adopt) but we ended up not going with either those two pairs. When picking my cat we did get some time with him in the shelter but not as much because space was limited and we had to stay away from other people, so given the chance to hang out with cats and understand them is good. I will say also, I think you probably know and have done this, but if not, it's good to check out costs for cats in general (vet bills, actual adoption costs, ect) because they can vary so much, even within the US but among different countries too ofc. Like here (in the US) I've seen dog/cat adoption costs be anywhere from $100 something to more like $600 per animal, which I think a lot of people don't expect if they haven't looked at costs. But in Germany it might be lower or higher, I don't know about those types of things in other countries (except in Moscow Russia, I know at times adoptions will be completely free for animals that people don't want, usually mixed breeds that people will refuse to pay for). And lastly also be aware that the personality of the cat might change at your home vs shelter, especially that cats may become more energetic and that stuff after some time because they're more used to you. But spending time with cats before adoption is definitely no detriment. Sorry I just like giving advice in general and want you to be able to have the best experience with your future cat

I’ve been looking into adopting a doodle and yeah it hit close to 500.
which is still better than buying in my circumstances. Buying goes anywhere from 1000 to 2500

I think a puppy from our nearest shelter is over $500, probably closer to $600. Plus impossible to get because the second there's a puppy everyone jumps to get it, it can be really hard to get a puppy here. Cats can be difficult too but I think they're common in shelters so they aren't necessarily so sought after as dogs.

Thats insanity, they practically pay you to take them here in the US. Where I used to live they had 5 dollar adoption days for cats and dogs like once a month. The normal price was 15.

On a serious note. We arent really picky other than we just really want a curly baby being that most of hypo allergenic.

I just need to convince my brother why we need 5 pups and not just 1

Oh how I wish it was like that cost wise here I think for my area it also gets pricey because there aren’t many strays or whatnot. They often bring animals in from areas that have too many animals for he demand and also have kill shelters. Iirc my cat is from Louisiana? But yeah the states/territories in question happen to be more to the south, quite far from where I live. So I’d imagine that is one reason it’s more expensive where I am vs the southern states are sometimes.
