A fermented savory sauce made out of flour, among other things. It's also called sweet bean sauce or sweet wheat paste. But it's not the same as sweet bean paste, which I think can also be called sweet bean sauce, thats a completely different thing. It can get confusing. Both are used primarily in Chinese cooking I believe.

I made my own but the recipe's validity was sketchy to me so I want to try one that isn't made by me. Recipes for it are super hard to find, I found only one I think that sounded reasonable.

The best part of all is the thing I found is labeled as sweet bean paste (aka not sweet flour sauce according to what they're supposed to be called). But ingredient wise and Chinese character wise it appears to be sweet flour sauce. Makes total sense
