This is what I’ve been told by multiple people that true stanning is. I do have a lot of groups that I really like and support but they don’t match this definition so I still put them in my bio just under a different section

It seems hard to stan more than 5 groups according to that definition

My definition of stan is much simpler. To me what defines a stan is passion (intense, driving, or overmastering feeling). I have seen much looser definitions out there. Anything else are details.

This used to be my definition of stanning basically. However too many people have made the comments that I was a fake stan as I had that feeling about too many groups

I'm not sure who's the "authority" who defined that word that way. It's focused on details and the details you can feel the strongest are really very individual. You are free to define it as you like. I'm a fake stan by many definitions; but according to who? And what qualifies them to push a definition? Do you remember the original definition of "stan"? It was "stalking fan". Are any of those really dangerous stalkers? I bet they aren't; so are they fake stans as well?
