Google seems to say no, there’s a country wide age requirement of 16 as a minimum I think but not 18 as the minimum.

Yes to my knowledge 16 is the requirement. It was changed in 2015. Some provinces like Ontario has it at 18. By child I thought you meant under 12-16ish, not under 18 And if you get married at 16 you must have parental permission and court permission

I meant anyone under 18, since in most places that’s where a person legally becomes an adult. Ofc 16 isn’t as bad as like 12, but it is still technically a child from 16-18. Still seems like better safeguards than the US though (and from what I remember in Canada it’s way way way less common than the US from 2000-2018 stats).

It’s pretty rare to my knowledge. If it does happen, it’s because of certain family customs where people marry young. I don’t think there’s a reason to marry when someone is 16-18 years old but I know some others on this planet may not share the same opinion

Yeah, I saw statistics given by someone for 2000-2018 from Canada and the US child marriage rates and I think Canadas was about 3,500 in that time range while in the US it was 300,00.
