Welcome to this week's edition of Hot Air Balloon wooooo!

We had a string of great releases this week.
My personal highlights were Treasure, Kim Sungkyu and Ukiss who all released amazing singles.
Sungkyu especially cameback with a mini that I'm going to be playing quite a bit.
Top comebacks include Shinee's long awaited return with Hard, Choi Yena's Hate Rodrigo, and Exo's pre release Hear Me Out!

I was so scared about what was going on when Yena’s music video got taken down, but I’m glad it’s back up now and with only a few small changes (and I completely understand why it was changed and even think it was a good thing).

I think it's good. I'm not the biggest fan of the concept so I'm happy it got changed

I’m happy it was changed too. I’m fine with the concept, but think the name of the song went too far if that makes sense. That’s probably too late to change without WAY too much confusion, so they did what they could.

The Shinee album is sooo good. Lots of bsides I love including the one you listed and this one;


Loved Hear Me Out and I didn't like Let Me In.

Loved the new XG song.

New to me from your list:
HiFi unicorn - love the name, didn't feel the music
8 Turn - almost there for me but wasn't crazy about the chorus
Yena - her voice/singing style is the type that kept me out of gg for a long time, so nope to the nope
Hanseungwoo - liked this but his voice is a little high and thin for me to add to playlists
uKiss - well made but not for me, feels very old-fashioned, can't put my finger on what makes it feel dated rather than intentionally retro..
Treasure - loved the verses, the chorus felt flat for me. I'm a Czennie so I don't mind a tone or tempo change up but I feel like the vocal would need to be more powerful in that chorus for this to work. The instrumental overpowers them. This is a very SM style song in structure but could've used the SM style production to balance those levels IMO.
Kim Sung Kyu - I liked this - it's not usually my style, but feels like a good driving song. vrroooom

I didn't care for the bsides except Shinee or the throwback pick this time.

Oh yeah Juice is that bitch! Funnily enough, I know Taemin pushed for hard to be the single, but I think juice would've been better for the concept they were going for. But like to be fair, if I was their album director I would've pushed for identity or like it to be the single

Both great songs too!

I think it's interesting to see the two different approaches that the "older" groups are taking. Shinee chose to experiment on their cb with more of the sounds currently popular in kpop while EXO is so far playing it safe and staying very much in their lane.
