GAME OF THRONES: Dany Annoys Me
SPOILERS FOR GAME ON THRONES!
No other character in Game Of Thrones annoys me more than Daenerys.
Nothing is more hard to swallow than someone who sells themselves as the good guy yet isn't.
Hell I don't like Cersei much but at least she doesn't try to hoodwink everyone into some Messiah shtick.
"Breaker of chains" my ass.
Dany fashions herself as this righteous savior and expects everyone to worship and kneel before her.
But she really isn't.
She's lying to everyone around her and perhaps to herself.
Power is her my motivation....
She's hawking subjugation as benevolence.
Her egomania concealed behind a veneer of "I'm better and more caring" than the rest. "I'm different."
Are you Dany?
Are you really?

I'm sorry, Ms. Loofburrow, but if you bought into Danaerys' "breaker of chains" shtick, the fault is with you, not the show. It just shows you were susceptible to the seduction of a charismatic despot, jut like Dany's followers. If there were ever any doubt that Danaerys is simply power mad, her reaction to Jon’s revelation of his parentage should put paid to any idea that Danaerys is anything other than an entitled, war monger. There is absolutely nothing understandable about her questioning of Jon’s claim to being Aegon Targaryen. Despite Jon having demonstrated again and again his utter selflessness and disinterest in power (to a fault, given that he abandoned his duty to the North), she immediately was suspicious. Her disbelief is absurd. Why would he bend the knee renouncing his title of King in the North only to then claim he’s Aegon? Only someone blinded by an overweening lust for power could think such a thing. Danaerys is the Smeagol/Gollum of Game of Thrones obsessively focused on power for powers sake, but unlike her counterpart Cersei, she lies to herself and everyone else about what she really wants and why. I’m reminded of May Angelou’s famous quote, “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.” Waaaaaay back in Season 2, Danaerys screamed at the Spice King in Qarth who refused to give her his ships that she would take back what was hers with fire and blood. There was no posturing about breaking chains or breaking the wheel. In that raw moment, she told you everything you need to know about her; she is the personification of the wheel.
