Appreciation Xikers - How To Play (Album Review) (1 Viewer)

My children (minus odd child Junghoon ) has returned with their new mini album ‘How To Play’
This is just my opinion, feel free to share your own thoughts about the album if you’d like.


Skater (8/10) : I actually really love this song, it kind of just feels like a chill summer song. Unfortunately I have a hard time distinguishing most of the members voices still but I can definitely tell the vocalists are able to showcase their abilities here rather than yelling/singing and loud instrumentals covering their voices. The only thing I dislike is sadly lovely Yechan’s verse, I don’t like that most of the instrumental stops during his part since he has a very high rap tone so I feel like it made that part really jarring.



Homeboy (6.5/10) : This reminds me so much of another song but I can’t figure out what and it’s driving me insane. I like it but I think its my least favorite from the album. It sort of just seems to be stuck in a loop to me and I don’t feel like there’s much substance to it. I can’t decide if I will be keeping it on my playlist or not.




Do or Die (8.5) : I feel like a lot of people won’t like this song . The auto tune I think is the only drawback tbh, I do think the pre-chorus could have been more exciting especially since the chorus is so explosive but I also understand why they chose to not have it super in your face either. That being said while I’m not a fan of auto tune I still really like this song and I can see it being really fun to see live.



Koong (7/10) Again, another song that I think most will dislike because a lot may consider it “noise” but I enjoy my noise music. The last chorus is definitely the best part imo, I would love to see this live as well, also my odd child Junghoon would do so well performing this.



Run (10/10) Minjae singing?! He’s singing!! Curse you smol leader for continuing to make me question my bias in this group. I think this song perfectly shows all of their talents blending extremely well together here. Definitely one of their best songs, the best on the album imo. Now I just need a Xikers ballad juseyo KQ.



Sunny Side (9/10) The only way I know how to describe this is “the ideal roadtrip song”. This, Run and Skater was the type of style I assumed xikers would debut with so I is extremely happy to have some songs like this from them. The bridge and last chorus are just- wonderful!

Overall I really enjoyed this album and I think it’s pretty much tied (enjoyment wise) with their first album.

Agreed with Yechan's unnecessary verse in Skater. I felt like my spirit had left my body and not in a good way.

Yechan has a vocal tone that they really need to place his parts in just the right part of the song or else like you said it just doesn’t sound right. He can either elevate a song or unfortunately take away from the song, which isn’t necessarily his fault (i love him and mean no hate )they just need to find out the best way to use his voice to bring out the best of him.

Yechan has a vocal tone that they really need to place his parts in just the right part of the song or else like you said it just doesn’t sound right. He has what I refer to as the AOA Jimin rap that I can't stand in the slightest. It's too fast, it's too high-pitched, and it takes away more in a song than it adds (probably because it doesn't suit the group's sound). XG has one of them too and sometimes they place her in the right place and sometimes it's just wrong... hopefully they figure it out soon.
