I have a friend from Vietnam at work. He lived their until he was about ten. He's really the only person at work I consider a friend. We went to Yellowstone and have done other stuff. I've mentioned that living here must be difficult for him as the Asian population here is basically none existant. He very enthusiastically agreed's it's hard and he's lonly. I said why don't you get a dog. He knows I'm really close with my dog and has always said he could never own a dog. I've asked why and he always changes the subject. Finally, a few weeks ago when we were at the local zoo he admitted why. As a kid, several times he got home from school, his dog was just gone, no warning, and they ate it for dinner. I totally understand the trama! Even as an adult I would starve to death before I ate my own pet or even someone else. I've always wondered If I went to someone's house and they were having dog if I could go through with it. Cat, wouldn't bat an eye. I'd try it as long as it wasn't someones pet. Dog, just can't.

Would you be willing to try dog

Or cat for that matter?

I don't remember the breed but I do remember that the dog was specially bred to be eaten and not like a random stray or something

we don't eat our pets (well actually we do but that's a personal thing lol) and we don't pet our food!!!

Yes, growing up all my friends were in a farming program and grew live stock. One of them had a pig named after me. I petted my namesake several times. Then he was slaughtered. I must say, I made very tasty sausages, bacon and pork chops.

Nope i wouldnt try it out of my own volition. I have grown to see dogs and cats as only pets, but lets say i was dating someone who has grown to see dogs and cats as pets and food and i was visiting their family and if they made it for me i would taste it. I wouldnt feel comfortable but i would do it.

Pets? I wouldn't eat any pet. Not even a rabbit or a chicken that I raised. The personal attachment would be too strong under normal circumstances. During a mass starvation as a last resort? That's another topic.
