Everyone seemed to do decent though. So there's room for improvement.

We'll just have to look forward to the Final Mission for some of the contestants to shine.

She got awarded all the stones there (dance, vocal, and star power) during the final team mission. Thus she was able to go to Korea and work to get her spot in NiziU.

Yes, but the character stone was awarded after the Final Mission.

I suspect the same thing will happen on A2K, since it has to do with the input from the trainers and other contestants.

Not if it works the same way as Nizi Project.

No, that never happened in Nizi Project. Everyone who went to Korea there got the character stone. (note, that does not mean they all got the other three stones ... spoiler time again):
