Too bad Americans learned the wrong lessons from this for the most part. Poland saw their capital city levelled, to name just one of the far too many atrocities in WWII, and Europe eventually grew to have a union promoting human rights and freedom for its members.

The US had the luxury of saying, 'Maybe we should just sit this one out' during WWII and loses literally two towers, and instead of promoting human rights, they've doubled down on hate, senseless violence, militarism and somehow ended up as the country with the most mass shootings in history.
