Spoiler: making of interview

it's visibly late and a tired yulan brings up a water bottle "to orthodox idols"
to which an equally tired eunha replies, "to orthodox idols indeed"
[text screen: hold on, what happened here?]

☾: last stage indeed
☼: soooo, about our stage this time around
☾: right
☼: I guess our original plan was to go all out, you know, make a big production that'll bankrupt the show
☾: shrugging I mean, it isn't our money so may as well go big
☼: but then on second thought decided against it
☾: we'd done our big production number last time with SNS-
☼: and we felt... ...typecast in a sense, as outsiders musically and theatrically
☼: a shame really, considering I very literally produced for idol groups as a living
☾: don't look at me, I have nothing to complain here; but yes, we're both theatre kids, don't pigeon hole us like that
☼: a playful glare at yulan ... anyways, we have so many people around us involved more directly in the industry
☾: and the essence of the industry, of working hard to chase your dream, carries a certain romance to it
☼: so, for our last performance, we dedicate this to all idols, all fans,
☾: and everyone chasing their dreams
☼: this is an ode to idoldom

eunha, decked out in pink, emerges from a group of dancers
爱U (Eunha's Version) starts
❝ taking a seaside stroll, ocean breeze tousling my hair
I gaze towards the stars and make a wish ❞
audience members with keener ears smile at the references to the two teams 𝐂𝐈𝐄𝐋 has worked with
❝ stars in my eyes, fingers tracing over the seven stars of the Big Dipper
happily I watch the strawberry moon on this secret trip of mine
walking in the night, dancing and singing to a crowd of my own
whatever I do, I reap; soon it's my time to shine ❞

after the camera zoom in to eunha's face for her ending, it zooms back out, revealing yulan who had been crouching down
건물 사이에 피어난 장미 (Yulan's Version) starts

after these two solo performances, the stage dims; audience members find their lightsticks turning on
爱D♡L, their title track of their first EP of the same name, starts and they perform together

a dance break section, an ode to wotagei, is added to the end of the performance before a final refrain of the chorus

still beaming, they take a bow together and exit the stage, blowing kisses and making hearts

and yes, if it isn’t clear enough they’ve changed the first verse/prechorus lyrics to 爱U for this stage; the chorus is something different too but the lyrics in OP don’t go that far

I had like three plans, all with full mood boards and stage inspirations ready to go
this was number two
number one was full angsty painted heart-inspired fantasy cdrama with lots of dance theatre elements (for funsies because of the unlimited budget lol) but a lot of those elements where in the last stage so I scrapped that plan (rip though because the choreo inspo was insane there)
number three was more on brand with stages 1 and 2, indie pop bunny is a rider w marina eerie and rui zhou type styling but those stages didn’t go well so I settled w orthodox idol camp realness (I was sorely tempted to include these gorgeous wigs but then I remembered orthodox idols don’t have crazy hair colours rip)

I had so many outtakes it’s nothing much, I just like keeping track of some smaller brands’ collections and shows so it’s quite easy to draw together a moodboard if everything’s already sorted out there
my singular regret about not option 3 is how I couldn’t incorporate this cool beyblade watch I found
