Do online friendships last? (1 Viewer)

I wonder if online friendships last for you guys. For me it usually lasted 2-3 years and then they fizzle out. Which is worrying cause i have been talking to my current friends for that amount of time, and i would lie if i would say i'm not worried about it...

I have had multiple years long fiendships. 2 are 3 years old, 1 is 2 years old and another is 1 year old. They've all worked out for me.

Are you and your friends not interacting as much

I think they can depending on your idea of lasting. I have some where I talk less to people now than when we first start talking but I would consider them friends still nonetheless.

I met this kid in an online game when we were both 15 years old and to this day we still have a snapstreak (it's been 8 years) and I see what he's up to in college. While I wouldn't call him my friend anymore because we no longer communicate I think that sometimes just having a presence around you is enough. Outgrowing friendships is a normal part of life and I hope you won't worry too much about it. If the good times were good, then you can look back on them fondly without feeling a twinge of longing for those times again. You'll continue to grow and meet new people, don't worry about putting expiration dates on things.

We are, we talk everyday, but it's a past experience , and that's why i'm worried.

I dont blame them tho, life happens and we change. Some get married, some just are top busy

I still have one online friend from 2005, we'd met on a forum for a group that has since disbanded, but yeah we still follow each other on Instagram. We don't talk a lot, but she reacts to a lot of my posts and I hers.

On the contrary, I met this girl Caitlyn on the One Direction forums in like... I want to say 2013, and we became so close that we exchanged Google Hangouts and Twitter info and would chat very often outside of the forums. But then one day, she confessed that she stopped liking 1D and was ditching them for 5SOS. I wouldn't have minded bc I was a 5SOS fan back then, too, but after that, she quit the forums, deleted her Twitter, and just fell off the face of the earth. So that frienship lasted maybe a year.

So yeah, it can depend from friendship to friendship. Maybe this one will last more than 2-3 years, who knows?

I think it really all depends on the bond. I’m losing touch with two of my online friends I’ve known for two years but I have friends I met online that are five years and running
