TL;DR: A goat species on the island of Majorca developed traits similar to many reptiles (such as bones that could grow slowly or even pause their growth, smaller brains, and long lifespans/late sexual maturity). This is thought to have happened because of the lack of resources on their island. They're extinct now, likely due to human involvement, but they lasted pretty long overall, about 5.2 million years on the island.

Dwarf goat more reptile than mammal
What had bones like a crocodile and grew like a crocodile, but was a goat? The answer, according to a new study, was the now-extinct Myotragus, also known as "mouse goat."
