i can’t remember the last time i willingly listened to kpop. all the new releases are not appealing to me and being apart of the kpop fandom is so tiring so i don’t consider myself a kpop fan anymore

i feel like at this point it’s just a bunch of random groups debuting but not really bringing anything to the scene. just the same stuff over and over again; boring new music, drama, fandom wars, repeat.

I think kpop is as interesting or boring as ever, its just the peoples interests that change

I would agree. Nothing new is happening compared to before imo, kpop has always been this way and there have always been people leaving for these reasons. Nothing wrong with that, I just find it odd when people say it’s changed for the worse or stuff like that and cite long standing problems

Honestly i've seen it a lot too , throughout the years. I kinda thing it's usually the combination of music trends changing and a person stepping into different stage in life with different interests.
Of course kpop changes, it always has been. Kpop follows the major music trends and formulates it to a more commercial audience. There was the sugar pop era with snsd, shinee, kara, apink etc. then the rebelious electronic era with infinite, t-ara, 4minute, etc. , following the combination of sexy and bombastic songs from exo, bts, blackpink etc. and here we are now in the present with a bunch of genres already having been discovered and seems like there is nothing new. However these days the changed up and noisy music has been a big thing, also most recently new jeans kind of chill and sweet sounds are also on the forefront.

kpop is imo in a good place, tho i do think some concepts are a little too popular rn.

I also think K-pop is becoming more like J-pop in terms of success and popularity. We have a few groups (mostly girls) who have captured the Korean GP's attention but most groups especially mid-sized groups are successful because of their dedicated fanbase. So now it doesn't feel like the fandom have a unified vision of what K-pop can be and we're all split into our little factions. For me it's making K-pop a little boring

But for me it's the music that counts in the end, and although K-pop's oversaturation is a curse, it's also a blessing knowing there'll be an album I like around the corner

thats true, what i meant was more that kpop seems to have become more commercialized than it was before. With it becoming so popular i think companies feel like they just need to keep debuting groups while not putting any effort into what they’re putting out. some companies may prioritize quantity over quality in terms of debuting new groups, leading to a decline in the uniqueness of the music. And i feel like certain kpop groups (i wont name them) have lost individuality. They all feel the same. Recycling the same concept over and over again. I feel a lacking sense of excitement with each new debut. But that’s just how i feel
