This is Part 1 of a series I am starting to see how certain things impact people.

How has social media impacted you? (Positively, negatively, both, etc. Feel free to elaborate on why)

For me, I would say positively so far, but I can see why some people can have negative experiences with it.

I don't think it has impacted me at all.

I hardly use it. I have social media accounts, but only to follow Kpop things. That's basically it.

i think we all understand positively
but when i was younger i was a people pleaser i only went on there because of peer pressure and it was very toxic from people i like u could see a lot of hate comments to me wanting a lot of followers and likes that i would constantly update it was just very darining

Good choice, I feel like that's a healthy way to use it for what you love but not to feel overwhelmed by it and have it affect you mentally.

that's why kids shouldn't have social media its draining they should be out enjoying their life

We had AOL Instant Messenger, MySpace, and eventually Facebook. But that's not really the same as what we consider social media these days.

Agreed. I feel like so many kids feel left out though because all of their friends have social media, and they want to be able to connect with them anytime they want. They can get exposed to so many horrible things too.

Understandable. I still consider those social media lol. I remember the days of MySpace, that was a fun time. Same with internet cafes.

I'm glad you decided to do that. Social media is so draining and affects mental health quickly.

it has been a negative experience for me in terms of connecting with the people i went to school with - a lot of my interactions with my friends on there at that time was what caused a lot of my friendships to break apart. This happened when I was in my last year of primary (Australian word for 'elementary') school. So when I entered high school (here in australia we don't have 'middle school', here we have high school that goes from 7th grade-12th grade) that's when I started to not use social media in order to connect with anyone that I went to high school too as I don't wish to suffer the same experience as I did back when I had it in primary school.
But in terms of positive experiences, it would just be the fact that I keep up with the content related to my interests that I can look at with a burner account that I use.

Understandable, the internet can be pretty positive and neagtive, depending on what you find.

I'm sorry to hear that related to your negative experiences. I'm glad that you still have positive experiences though and can keep up with your interests!
