Kpop fans don't know the difference between a bad song and a song they dislike (1 Viewer)

There are some songs we don't rock with and that's okay but there's a difference between a song being bad and you not liking it
A song being bad is dependent on multiple things not just your ears
- Does it attempt to be recognizable or unique with its sound?
- Does it suit the given artist/artists?
- Does it like it plays in the background of a mall Sephora? (you know what I freaking mean)
- Is the song empty and mostly repeating words or hums?
- Does it make you sleepy?
- Is it a sound the general public will like while also being something new or unique to the artist?



O.O may not be a likable song but it's still good because of these reasons. You might have despised it but undoubtedly it made you recognize the NMIXX name for that reason. It also really promoted itself bc while it did have promo the song being so outrageous and crazy was basically promotion on its own.

Others though like Sensitive by Loosemble may have been widely acclaimed but it's not really a good song. All I could think was that it sounded everything but Loona. I wanted to support the girls after leaving BBC because I wish them nothing but the best but only OEC seemed to truly try and be something in my opinion.

Also even if you're not using my silly checklist you can tell when bitches are pretending a song is bad just bc they dislike it
But all in all I wish people knew the difference between the two

I can tell the difference. For example I cannot stand 4 Walls by f(x) but it is objectively a “good” song and I can see why it would appeal to others. also i love O.O so clearly I have superior taste ofc

why? because of the meaning of the words " good" and " bad" - they are subjective!!!

that's because music like most things is subjective - there is never 100% consensus on the goodness or badness of a song

literally the criteria you listed is subjective...

- Does it attempt to be recognizable or unique with its sound? what is unique to me might not be for you
- Does it suit the given artist/artists? what I think suits an artist or not you might differ
- Does it like it plays in the background of a mall Sephora? (you know what I freaking mean) again just because I might think so you might disagree
- Is the song empty and mostly repeating words or hums? again just because I think so doesn't mean you agree
- Does it make you sleepy? one man's trash is another's treasure
- Is it a sound the general public will like while also being something new or unique to the artist? just because a song seems GP friendly doesn't mean it will be so - hindsight is 20/20

In all serious, I know what you mean and I agree with you. The only point I disagree with (I think) is it sounding like it could be played in a mall store. I love those types of songs more often than not.

Yeah. What I really mean by "mall music" is when it sounds corporate and pandering but the producers are almost entirely out of touch with what anyone in the demographic even wants

Ohhhhhhh, okay, I get what you mean now. I think that's more the stores being out of touch and playing the wrong music for their target demographic instead of producers making the wrong type of music, but I'm sure both happen a significant amount.

In Metal there are quite a few vocalists that can't sing in terms of a classical singing education. But the mix of growls and clean vocals conveys emotions in an incomparable way. On the other hand there are songs with objectively good or even great singing, but I feel absolutely nothing while listening to them. In the end it's not musical theory that distinguishes a 'good' from a 'bad' song - all that matters is the way music touches you subjectively.

It's cause everyone presents their "taste" as a standard for good music. When it's actually just their opinion and opinions are subjective. Even experts don't always agree on the same criterias or lists of top songs. When i hear someone say that a song is "objectively good" i just think that it meets the basic criterias of a song. I've heard plenty "good songs" that bored me to no end.

I am personally well aware that many don't like the music i listen to, and i dont give a fuck, neither should you.
