Sensitive AITA for cutting off my friend bc he supports a weird anime? (1 Viewer)

One day I was talking to my then-friend who we'll call for this story Renjun. I started talking about this anime (which you may know of) Yairchin Bitchy Club. If you haven't watched it, don't! it has lots of themes of really gross things like SA, relationships with students and overage teachers, gang r-word and so much more. The series itself centers around creating a club at school to trick them into being in this weird sex club
I talked about my hatred for the series and went into detail about this stuff too and Renjun replied "That's not even bad." I asked him "What are you smoking Renjun? In what world are these things okay?" Renjun said that since it was a fictional series those things were completely justified and not wrong. I tried to explain to him how it was still weird to promote these themes especially bc the new wave of YBC fans are young and impressionable. He also said it was just normal AV and BL tropes (since Yairchin Bitch Club is technically a Yaoi) but I like BL and I can promise you there are good series and manhwa that aren't like this so it's not an excuse. After arguing for a bit I got fed up and even just confused on how I was even friends with someone like this so I blocked them on everything; we haven't spoken since. So, am I the asshole?

we make friends with whoever we want and for whatever reason we want - that also means you can choose to defriend someone for whatever reason you want...

with friendship generally we make friends based on that person's personality and character and if we believe them to act opposite of what we think their character should be or that they have broken some morals that we hold then it's natural for one to disengage from the friendship

Yeah dk if youre into BL in general but some good picks are love in the air/lovestorm or Jinx by Mingwa which is pretty good too although Jaekyung's character development is a bit lacking at the moment I will say
UPDATE I no longer support jinx that manhwa is straight garbage

NTA. Those are very disturbing topics, and if you don't want to be friends with someone who consumes media containing that, you have every right to stop being friends over that if you would like. I get it to an extent. It's not the same, but I don't have many, if any, friends who like watching true crime, much less actively, and I would like to keep it that way.

I completely get where your comparison is bc true crime episodes are traumatizing as all hell. how can people sleep to that?
