Dating a freshman as a senior in high school is weird though

Yep and in most states in the U.S., anyone under the age of 14 is illegal. It doesn't matter if the other person is also a minor. If both consent to know each other's age, you will both be in huge legal trouble (the older person will be in more)

for what state i live in they make an exception of a 17 yr old dating an 18 yr old but that's all

Age gaps doesn't matter between adults. There are a few factors other than just a number on an ID card.

Christiano Ronaldo claims that he has a biological age of 23 (in comparison to a 23 year old untrained man). He's 38. Not everyone is that fit even when he/she does competetive sports. But you get the point.

I'd say five years should be the max... but then, Nick and Priyanka Jonas have ten years between them and Michael and Crystal Clifford six years. They're both happily married couples with children, and we never batted an eyelash about either couple dating, getting married, or having a baby. (ofc I stay away from drama, so maybe I'm wrong? lol)
