Aka- why idol rappers who aren't actually rappers are actually good thing.

Though I have to admit that I feel like I have gotten more into Soyeon's rap since then. I'm not always biggest fan of her rap parts in G-IDLE, but her part of K/DA was bomb, I just keep repeating it.. though K/DA isn't really kpop either? :dubuthink:

I have been thinking this a while and I'm not sure if others would see this similarly, but to me there is lot of rappers in kpop that are actually great idol rappers even if they aren't that good as rappers (probably wouldn't go far in SMTM). What I mean as good idols rappers is that their rap parts fit to their groups songs nicely and sound good, they have good tone, good delivery and good performance for an idol.

Others: CL, Jennie, Amber?

In other hand there is idols who are great rappers, but whose parts feel awkward in their groups songs, whose tone and attitude feels off from the song and rest of the group. They shine when they are apart from the group and kpop rather than when they are being idol. However: maybe it's more up to their groups concept not fitting them or songwriter not knowing how to implement rap in a song that maybe shouldn't have rap than their skills as idols?

There is definitely an argument that forced rap can be worse than say average rap because an average rap that fits smoothly into a song compliment the song well where as a forced rap that does not fit smoothly could ruin the songs flow and throw listeners off which can ruin the song for them.

As much as a rapper has to be good at rapping it is also up to the songwriter to make sure the rap part fits the songs and doesn't feel like it's just... there as not every song requires a rap part and putting one in a song that doesn't will just feel awkward.

True, lot comes to song writing. And personally I feel like it's easier to make average rap, for example someone just saying couple days with sexy tones, fit to pop music than have proper rap verse. With groups that have good rappers and where they can show their skills, I feel like the songs often ends up focusing to that rap and also the sound is more hip hop like.

Yeah and I think that it definitely is easier to do that with a hip hop vibe since it's what rap was originally intended for and you can use it all the time but using it all the time in other ones can end up with the rap break in Bboom Bboom

Yup it can feel quite out of place. And i think that's my issue often with like Yubin's rap on WG songs, they just feel like they don't really belong to me.
