But I'm just letting you know that we use computers for almost anything. My state even gives us our own (shitty) laptops to do work on.

I'm not saying everything is digital but for a lot of classes, it almost always is (English, Math and Sciences seem to usually be more traditional in that sense usually though).

When I shared that I got my Seal of Biliteracy to Facebook (or my parents did, I don't remember), my cousin (I think like 2nd cousin twice-removed) messaged me and asked me what textbook I used.

I was so tempted to be like "Textbook? They used that in the 1800s! We use computers now." But I just said we don't use textbooks anymore, we use computers (nicely) and also that I've taken 4 years of Spanish (at the time) and referred her to some language learning sites.

Nope. At least, I guess if you wanted to use one, you could find one and pay for it yourself but there's really no point to it. The school doesn't pay any more for physical textbooks except for AP as they can get expensive and are a waste of space.

For math, we're typically given fill-in notes that we can use for future reference.

But if we need extra help, we're allowed to ask our teachers for help during study hall or class or also watch videos on the subject on Khan Academy or YouTube.

And if we wanted to, we could look it up but we would be screwed if our teacher tells us to show our work on our homework and it's not going to help us if we don't know how to do it for our tests.

Oh yeah, we definitely do still use physical paper copies. It depends on the class and the teacher, really. My Intro to Supply Chain class is almost all computer whereas my Algebra III class is almost all paper (especially because we usually have to show work). It never gets 100% either method though. Tests and quizzes can vary from on paper to on computer (they have methods to make sure you aren't looking stuff up for your test such as taking away your phone, watching what you do live on your computer and preventing you from switching tabs or copying and pasting). But again, depends on the class and teacher.

It's also easier to grade multiple choice because it just tells you what they got wrong if you set it up right.

Textbooks, not so much. I read that teachers still use physical textbooks sometimes but it's just so much cheaper, environmentally friendly and space friendly to find and use information that's online.

And in case you're wondering, yes, we still read physical books 😛
