Does anyone find “did you get a haircut” dumb in a lot of cases? (1 Viewer)

Like if someone gets a trim I could get asking. But I feel like a lot of people ask when it’s super obvious the person got a haircut. Why not just say “nice haircut” at that point?

like "did you [do something]"
it could be a haircut or losing weight or whatever other physical change

Maybe to clarify before jumping in to conclusions?! Some then say, I didn't do anything different to my hair than just switching/doing (to) a different style

I think people use it as a conversation starter, like when you go into Walmart and see a Walmart employee and you ask them if they work there we know what the answer is but we want the confirmation anyway, and then after that it usually leads to a different conversation

one time three years ago I cut my literal thigh-length hair to my shoulders that I spent 5 years growing out (don't ask why I was going through a crisis even the guy who cut my hair was like...really? all of it? ) and people were like did you cut your hair?? :")
