I know my great grandfather died in Berlin during the Second World War. My grandmother even knows the general area where he died (she lives in Berlin now but no, said great grandfather was not a Nazi. She doesn’t have German ancestry and they lived in the Soviet Union). I know I have many other relatives affected by WW2 but they all survived as far as I know. Not positive. But I haven’t heard of them dying at least.

my uncle had birth defects because my grandma had to escape from the japanese and he had a reduced life span as a result

A know that a number of my ancestors died during WWI and WWII.

Aside from that, my Grandfather came close to dying during the Korean War - And my Father came close to dying during the Falklands War.

Oh, can I count, too? Because I came very close to dying a few times during the war in Afghanistan (on one occasion, a bullet just missed my head).

a lot, some before i was even born, some i personally knew and loved.
almost every single relative of mine that died was a civilian, only 1-2 were actually soldiers.
i learned about some of these deaths from social media instead of officials because there was no contact with the survivors- we didn't even know if they survived. i was so scared they all died.
the things i've felt then, and still do, are honestly things i wouldn't wish upon anyone. it's part of why i can be a little emotional and aggressive when these types of topics come up.

No. My grandma tells me stories about the time during winter war but i dont think she has ever said someone close to her died.
