I was watching Criminal Minds and someone was executed by firing squad. I didn’t even know that was a method of execution. So I started reading about it. The last death my firing squad was conducted in 2010 in Utah, USA. Then I learned that the last execution by hanging took place in 1996. Electrocution is still done but not as common, although it may be granted if the person so chooses. The last use of a gas chamber was used in 1999, however lethal gas may still be a method of execution. In the US, 11 states still authorize the use of lethal gas, technically speaking. Three of those eleven states authorize execution by nitrogen hypoxia, in which a prisoner is suffocated by breathing pure nitrogen, but no one has been executed by nitrogen hypoxia as of 2022. In 1977, Oklahoma became the first state to adopt lethal injection as a means of execution, though it would be five more years until the first person executed by lethal injection in Texas during 1982. Today, all of the states that have the death penalty use this method. Why do I now possess this information? ​

Some people deserve to die.

if you committed a heinous enough crime not only would that mean your death but the deaths of all those related to you (who might be innocent)

that's the point of the question right

it's a horrible horrible deed but it does ensure peace from then on...hence the "does the ends justify the means question"
