Do you put fruit on your sandwiches? (1 Viewer)

Besides tomato

We had catered lunch today, and none of the sandwiches were labeled. I picked up a turkey and lettuce with cheese.
I took a bite, and thought I also saw cucumber. But the green skin was too light, so maybe not. Once I bit into thr sandwich again, there was a sweet taste to the "cucumber." I took it out - it was thinly sliced green apple.

It was an interesting combo, but like pineapple on pizza I wouldn't try it again. It was only good for five seconds.

Anyway, do you eat sandwiches with fruit? (Not tomato )

I cant think of any examples but I know people who like to add avocados to sandwiches. I wouldn't be surprised by people adding cucumbers, I've had pickles before which are botanically just pickled fruit. Or do you mean outlawing every non culinary fruit? Because tomatoes aren't alone in that regard

Tomatoes can stay, I just wanted to see if any other non typical (to me) fruit has been in sandwiches.

Peanut butter with banana sandwiches(ELVIS PRESLEY'S GRILLED PEANUT BUTTER AND BANANA SANDWICH are the standard i think, but i forgot about it when i first tried to make my own a few yrs ago.i only rmbrd later.) Delicious for the simplicity n availability/no fuss or muss to make quickly when i want a snack(when i hv ready the ingredients, i nvr buy especially to make it)

Right but I meant are you assuming culinary fruits for the sake of this argument or all fruits except tomatoes, because once you get rid of non culinary fruits the pickings become slim as to fruits in sandwiches

Culinarily fruits would be stuff like apples, oranges, strawberries, bananas, watermelon, dragon fruit, ect. Things most people think of when they hear fruits. Non culinary/botanical fruits would be things like squash, tomatoes, cucumber, avocados. Things that are botanically fruits but not used like fruits in cooking (ie not used for sweet dishes, and instead used for savory).

A local restaurant has a burger with peanut butter on it...I didn't have it but my brother did and he said it was good and that they were able to balance the amount of peanut butter well (I hate peanut butter except with jelly or chocolate so I couldn't tell you my personal opinion because I would never try such a thing)

But wait until you hear about the bacon ice cream...
