I guess sometimes if one buys lots of ingredients for the same type of food it might be easier to make the same foods for the next few days

Always. I don't eat convenience food; cooking for only one person and one day wouldn't be economical most of the time. A meal like Creamy Garlic Chicken still tastes great on the second and third day, only the rice and salad is freshly made then.
