Sensitive “I don’t hate countries, I hate wars” (1 Viewer)

I have been seeing this comment pop up a lot lately. I believe it to be true. I don’t think we should hate a country for wars and what stupid things their government choses to do, especially if the people can’t democratically elect a leader. That country may have a rich culture and beautiful holidays, but their government is doing some morally wrong/questionable things. Additionally, why should individuals be punished what their government does? Leaders should be held accountable for wars and mass genocides, and it is horrible that innocent people are being roped into this… on both sides.

What is your opinion on the comment “I don’t hate a country, I hate wars”?​

I agree with that statement, the war is what should not happen I don't really think a country would be at fault for a war, the government could be absolutely but the citizens, no.

Of course. And a lot of times it’s politically motivated too. Like when the US encouraged restaurants to rename French fries to “Freedom fries” because France had the nerve to not support the US invasion of Iraq. And some restaurants did so Bonus is that French fries are not even from France.

counterpoint - sometimes what a country does is so horrific and terrible - looking at you Japan that the actions of the government/military gets sheeted home to the entire country

I only point out Japan as an example and not Germany since Germany has made great strides to compensate and apologise for their past wrongs whereas Japan less so

now regardless of the above - war is war and one theory of war is total decimation destruction elimination of the entire nation since according to a chinese saying

"cut grass and pull out roots"

In the case of when the people of that country know exactly whats going on and spread hate on the internet because they actually have access to it
