name brand shoes are worth it and feel more comfortable.

I would have to agree with shoes. Also learned the hard way that it doesn’t hurt to spend a little extra on a backpack

I’d say phones to an extent. You don’t need to get the most expensive ofc, but if you get a cheaper phone, you’ll probably be buying a couple new phones in the time range where you would otherwise still be using the more expensive phone. If you don’t mind that then nothing wrong with a cheap one, but the short term gain of it being cheaper upfront doesn’t mean it’s cheaper in the end. Speaking from experience Though I’ve had a cheap phone (relatively speaking) that lasted for a while, and to this day it still functions (my mom uses it now though, not me).

agree with backpack too. once i had a cheap backpack, the zipper broke within months

a good kitchen knife! my mom refused to buy a proper knife for the longest time but i recently got her a slightly nicer one than the ones we already have and the difference is night and day
