my thoughts on i-land 2, and on random stuff in general (1 Viewer)

have i been kinda uninterested in kpop recently? yes! has my irrelevance on this site grown by leaps and bounds? also yes! did i watch i-land 2? yes! do i regret it? most definitely! but still, do i have my long, winding, and shitposty thoughts on the show and on other things i've been interested in? of course! so am i narcissistically making a whole thread about it? absolutely!!!

i-land 2 thoughts

• i started watching this show out of plain boredom and wanting to see my beloveds monika and leejung. should not have done that, not at all.
• look. even following a show real-time isn't gonna do much for your interest in it when it's just plain bad and boring
• hot(?) take - monika is the anti-boa in a way. like, hear me out. boa was an excellent host on broduce, she genuinely shone and was so very helpful to all the participants, and she's close with them to this day. but take her outside of the idol scene (which she has been in since age 11, btw) and put her as a judge on swf and smf? yeah she was clearly talking through her hat the entirety of both the shows, having me go 'huh' at the screen far too many times. her (and the co-judges') judging was plain incompetent and inconsistent, as simple as that. now, for monika. on dance-oriented shows, such as sdgf and swf2, she's 100% in her element. taking the right calls, giving the right advice. but i think an idol-oriented show like i-land has her talking through her hat, and has me going 'huh' at the screen too many times (really, "oh wow what's the deal with trix?" gives the same energy as "i never knew you could dance so well, jungeun!" imo). and also: boa shouldn't have addressed b2b disrespectfully, nor should monika have gone after sujung the way she did. i don't think this really is the case for all idols and all pro dancers: shownu did well enough on swf2, and choreographers (which monika is essentially today) have been on idol survival shows for so many years, heck, even on i-land i'd say leejung isn't doing too badly. and i don't think the situation would be very bad for monika vis-a-vis the participants - smf participants have choreographed for the judges since the show (cyj for suju, root for boa) so they clearly have good relations. it's the public's reaction towards monika i kinda fear about tbh, i hope they don't bully her the way they did boa. i genuinely hope this isn't the case, boa went through hell. and honestly, nothing is really a dealbreaker for me, you know? like these are stupid tv shows, half the decisions are probably scripted by mnet. i still love boa, and i'll still love monika. and i say this as someone who came to love prime kingz, eo-ddae & b2b, and sujung
• hanbin is honestly the only good thing about part 2, like damn he is so fine. he might even be the most handsome zb1 member for me rn...
• i follow sujung on ig! yippee!
• my ideal yet realistic-ish line-up consisting of the 10 current finalists would be fuko, jeemin, jiyoon, jungeun, koko, and either sarang or saebi (depends on my mood). like koko is the "realistic" part, i'd personally much rather have yuju.
• babyzoo should have been on smf. random but yes. like ik he was in the military but like. that's sad. he should have been there. would have increased ygx's skill level tbh, and imagine having two waackers (provided mood dok's still there)??? insane
• i just like waacking tbh
• so like i guess it's no secret now that sujung was my fave contestant, i mean i think she's just plain neat. like yeah she can get a little too harsh sometimes (sdgf2 ep3 shows that) but (a) i guess that as she gets older she's going to realise that her doing well with constructive criticism doesn't imply others dealing with it well, and (b) i think she does indeed have a ton of affection for everyone, mai included
• i didn't get the mai visuals hype at first but iatb mai converted me. like that silver eyeliner???
• ok i'll talk about everyones' visuals: fuko does better with the bangs i think, still very cute, gives me jiheon vibes (though in after like she reminded me of yujin, and in bad boy practice time she reminded me of irene, final stage was more jiheon imo). jiyoon is very pretty idk who she reminds me of but it's someone. jeemin just isn't my type i think. yuju too. jungeun is a cutiee. koko reminds me of yoon from stayc kinda - or maybe it's just the bangs. sarang is another idol chameleon, she looked like eugene during sugarcoat, and she really looked like krystal during 4 walls. saebi is just very pretty, gyuri too but she's still got that babyface.
• sujung will get somewhere, trust
• reminds me, i need to keep up with toz.
• produce/planet leaders visuals ranking: eunbi > yujin > nayoung. seungwoo > hanbin > jisung. don't ask me to mix both lists up, i don't have the headspace for that.
• yeri is looking very good these days. red hair suits her.

thoughts on the finals:

• well. mai instead of fuko. i do not hate this
• dad joke: why was taeyang wearing sunglasses indoors at night? because he is the taeyang!
• that said he was being a very bad influence on his son there... what if his son grows up to wear sunglasses indoors at night??? taeyang jr please grow up to become a doctor or a lawyer or an accountant. please. /j
• yurina, keita, and k are a club. and they have a new member - hayashi fuko
• i hope fuko actually pulls a keita and debuts with a group with her fellow i-land 2 contestants whose concept she suits better, without having to go through another survival show. or she pulls a k - aces through another survival. pulling a yurina (debuitng solo and not making much $$$ but releasing a gay song) is,,, also an option
• sujung will attend a 1 million dance class soon TRUST ME ON THIS. possibly taught by root, or, even better, injeong
• ash blond hanbin >>>>> your fave, unless your fave is brown yujin. yujin reminds me so much of gyuvin with that hair tbh </3 i love them
• blond taerae is as awful an atrocity as blond krystal though let me say this. taerae looks washed out, much like cera (of mannequeen in swf2) did once her hair lost its strawberry tinge!
• red hair suits cera too. i love the auburn she keeps. blond hair suits her bf melman tho
• anyway how have i not talked about the red bull dance your style 2024 korea finals!!! oh my god it was INSANEEE y'all need to watch it!!! congratulations to 5000, the icon and the legend. hope he enjoys mumbai - even though it's not my city, it's my country, so i hope he has a great time. everyone else did so well too. y'all need to watch it.
• like the trix vs love ran battle? actually no all of love ran's battles? and all of 5000's??? and rhythmgate vs babysleek?? fucking insane y'all should watch 100%. no, 5000%
• shin seunghoon the fucking legend you are
• park hanbin of evnne talking talking on bubble about how he was sad saebi didn't make it cause she trained for ages at wk1 and that he understood where she was cause a year ago he was at that exact place, and telling her that if things worked worked out for him they'd work out for her too, all for him having to say "nvm" at the end cause she made it... that was so sweet of him tbh
• i can imagine the evnne wk1z celebrating saebi (and the others' too!) debut... all while keita gets bopeul finale flashbacks
• anyway listen to badder love please it's such a good song!
• so um. yeah.

those were my thoughts. i don't really expect anyone to read this, just wanted to post them somewhere. but if someone does end up reading and wants to engage, telling me i have the most L takes ever, feel free to do so. i want to get more active here so um let's start with this i guess

Ooofff this is a long post and I didn't follow I-Land, but what is that name?
I feel like group names are weirder and weirder by each gen.

But I get not being interested in kpop anymore. I took a 2 year or so hiatus in kpop.
The only group I follow closely is NCT, for the rest, I'll listen to new releases, but I don't really follow any other groups anymore.

for me it seems as though i've sort of become a stan of none, but a casual of everyone??? like i don't even follow the groups i ulted before, unless the come back. i very rarely end up listening to their albums entirely, and just check out whatever songs interest me by whoever. these days i've been loving cosmic by red velvet for example, hell, i may even change my layout to something yeri themed!

I like ZB1's songs but I can't handle them disbanding, tho Kep1er renewed (7/9) so maybe there's hope?
Focus in as many groups as you like, as long as you're comfortable with it, it can get overwhelming sometime.
