Why is hate towards LGBT individuals still occurring? 😭 (1 Viewer)

There was vandalism in a nearby city targeted towards LGBT+ individuals. Someone put tire tracks all over the newly repainted pride flag crosswalk and there was “DEATH TO LGBT” spray painted nearby. Why is this awful hateful stuff happening still in the year 2024? This is truly disgusting!!​

Even worse when it occurs within the 'family'.....

Recently found out that some extended family members voiced their bigoted and unwanted opinions about my eldest daughter's sexuality and relationship with her girlfriend.
That really pissed me the fuck off and I wanted to confront them head on (Hayley managed to calm me down).

But then she was pissed off, after she found out that they also criticized my parenting (saying it was my parenting that caused her sexuality). And she was left furious after that. Because she doesn't tolerate anyone criticising me and/or how I've raised her.

It's funny, how we are both very alike there. We shrug it off if someone insults us. However, we'll want fight that person if they dare insult the person that we love

I get the same reaction from my grandmother
It annoyed me initially but then just learned to live with it
cannot change the thinking when they are in denial, which she is

Thankfully all of my immediate family are supportive (including my Grandmother who loves her great-granddaughter).

And my eldest simply doesn't care about the opinions of those who don't matter to her. (+as she has said before. The one opinion that matters the most to her, is my opinion)

Just gotta live your life how you want to and not give a fuck what anyone and their outdated opinions think on the matter.

I totally agree

I really dislike poison opinions
it makes me mad, but at the same time
I do not want drama associated with it
Dad is more supportive
but he is like the only one, which is a bit depressing
