It’s pronounced basically like guitar (gitara) which when you back far enough is thought to originate from the Greek word kithara, via route of Latin, Arabic, Spanish, Polish, and probably more. There are other string instruments in Russia that resemble guitars, most famously the balalaika, but the etymology seems less clear for that one. But some do think the word for balalaika is a borrowed word from Tatar

Well I did live in the US 24 years longer than in Russia I would definitely say I act more American than Russian by far

No I really just didn’t consume much media when younger. I definitely live under a rock compared to most I know some Korean media and that’s about it
